Reine des Violettes

Class:Hybrid Perpetual
Bloom:Mauve
Size:5 - 6 ft. tall
Introduced:Millet-Mallet, 1860
Aptly named "Queen of the Violets," this rose is one of the most purple roses to be found. Flowers open to a mauve color that quickly deepens to a purple-pink and have a strong, but not overpowering, fragrance that is one of our favorites. After the first spring bloom, rebloom is good, although the number of flowers decreases. Even a single bloom makes this rose worth having, though, for it is quite unique and truly beautiful. Reine des Violettes is most generous with her blooms if she is self-pegged. Zones 5-9.
