Found in Texas, this rose is easy to identify from its leaves, which are narrower and smaller than most China roses, red when new and dark green with age. Flowers are crimson with bright gold stamens decorating the centers. There is often a thin white streak on one of the petals. Blooms have little or no fragrance. Martha Gonzales makes an excellent low-growing hedge. Zones 7-10.
