Portland Roses

The heritage of Portland roses is unclear and only a small number of the Portland roses that were popular in the early 1800's are still available today. They appear to have Damask roses in their ancestry, exhibiting the characteristic Damask fragrance. They are smaller, though, at about 4 ft. tall, and grow somewhat upright. Portland roses have repeat bloom that varies from sparse to generous within the class. Some require spraying to ward off disease.
