Climbing Roses
Climbing roses as a class have a propensity to produce long arching canes that can be trained onto walls, fences, and arbors. Some climbers are sports of old and modern roses found in other classes. For example, the roses The Fairy, Souv. de la Malmaison, and La France all have climbing counterparts. Ramblers are vigorous climbers that are distinguished chiefly by their size. Climbing roses are as small as 6-8 ft. and as tall as 25 ft. while ramblers can grow to 30 ft. tall and are often grown up trees. Also, ramblers are once-bloomers while many climbers are repeat bloomers. Zones vary. |
